Sitting in solitude,
meditating on You,
I am threading a garland.

In the sandal breeze,
on the bank of the river,
only Your picture reflects.

The murmuring sound of the stream
is requesting me to listen:

"Your companion is everyone's companion.
It is not possible to see only Him."

The sandal breeze told me
it would have been better
had I not loved Him.

He was the galaxy of distant sky,
smiling sweetly from afar.

And yet, by my love,
I am confident of attaining Him
This love also,
I learned from Him alone.

----------------------------------------

Sitting alone in His ideation,
I made a garland for Him alone.
In the fragrance laden breeze from the mountains,
by the bank of the river,
there was nothing but His presence.

The playful waters making chalchal words
had called me, "Listen, O companion,
Your Parama Purus'a is dear to all,
and so He cannot be seen separately."

The fragrance laden breeze from the mountains
went on saying while blowing:
"It would have been safer not to love Him so dearly,
for He is the star of the sky,
the distant nebula,
He smiles sweetly from the distance."

By the love He taught me, I shall attain Him.

----------------------------------------

Alone, absorbed in deep contemplation of Him,
I have woven a garland.
Only His shadow was to be seen
on the riverbanks as the southern wind blew.

The bubbling waters said,
"Listen, my friend,
Your Friend is the friend of all;
You will not get the chance to see Him alone."

The southern breeze whispered,
"It would be better had You not loved Him;
He is like a star in the sky, a distant nebula;
He sends His sweet smile from afar."

I shall yet attain Him through my love,
And I learned this lesson of love from Him.
