At times sleeping,
at times standing,
collecting pebbles,
I have filled my home.

Remaining on the shore of the river of life,
I am not in search of the ocean.

The stream of the river flows upward.
My mind knows that the tide comes.
Yet I cannot know
whether the ocean is close or far away.

With the receding tide, the water moves away.
And the thought of the ocean comes to mind.
A deep desire awakens in me to merge with it,
and this attraction makes me oblivious of myself and others.
